This is the single worst dishwasher I™€™ve ever owned or used. It may as well only have one rack, if you adjust the top rack down so you can fit anything other than a sippy cup then the blade actually hits the silverware tray handle. Don™€™t even think about putting an actual dinner plate on the lower rack while the top rack is in the lower position. I had the old version of this dishwasher and the ™€œnew improved™€ version is a joke. I don™€™t think they even tried to use this thing before releasing it to the public. Do not buy unless you only own cups that are 4™€ tall. The nut cutlery trays is also a joke and takes up another 2™€ of vertical space that you don™€™t have to spare.

Failed in less than 2 years

We installed a complete Cafe appliance package in our house and in less than 2 years the dishwasher has completely failed. It tripped the breaker and we could smell a burning smell coming from the control panel. Ran a few tests and it™€™s completely dead. Apparently, this is a problem others have reported. Called Cafe and they said it™€™s out of warranty and house, 30 minutes outside of Indianapolis, is too far for a technician to travel.

They Don™€™t Make Them Like They Used To

Dissatisfied GE Customer 8/2/2026

Our previous Cafe dishwasher lasted 13-years before failing and we were very pleased. We purchased a newer model replacement Cafe dishwasher and have had it fail twice in less than three months. The first failure occurred upon installation and Home Depot had to replace the unit with a new one. Less than two months have passed and our second/new unit completely died last night™€¦cycle selection lights worked as expected, but upon shutting door to start the wash, the system died and remains completely defunct after multiple trouble shooting guidance recommendations. Albeit the unit is under ™€œwarranty™€, the third party company contracted by GE is charging me a base diagnostic fee for the home visit, and advised there will be additional parts and labor charges once the problem is diagnosed. Buyer beware™€¦quality controls have declined tremendously with Cafe dishwashers and the one-year warranty is a bait-and-switch as I am anchored to GE™€™s third-party vendor and will be paying a premium for the service/repair.

Flatware bin problems

We don't like the flatware bins. If you put the spoons and forks in handle down then you have to grab the clean item by what you would put in your mouth. Not good. You should have bins just large enough to put flatware (spoons and forks) in with the handle up. But not too large they stack against each other and won't clean, just spaced apart from one another. We had a Sears Kenmore purchased in 2005 that had a perfect design for washing flatware (spoons, forks, and butter knives). Research that and update your design. Otherwise the dishwasher is cleaning well.

Great dishwasher - when it works

Purchased the dishwasher and it was installed May 13, 2026. Used it twice, did an amazing job and left for a European vacation for 3 weeks. Came home and no power to the dishwasher. Checked the breaker, checked the power receptacle, called Bodewell and they confirmed no surges or power issues. Had to order a new control board - initially stated 2 weeks - now backordered for an undetermined amount of time. Unacceptable.

While it performs basic functions well, the absence of function control on the actual dishwasher is absurd. Why would anyone think that controlling what you want to do should be done on an app? Bottle jets on/off top or rack select. Put the controls back on the machine instead of on an app!

Absolutely love this dishwasher! We are incredibly happy with this purchase. First off, it is incredibly quiet™€"you barely even know it™€™s running. The capacity is fantastic, and I love how many dishes it can hold. The top slide-out rack is a total game-changer for silverware and small plastic tops; it keeps everything organized and prevents things from flipping over. Most importantly, it cleans exceptionally well. On top of a great product, the customer service from General Electric has been excellent. It™€™s rare to get both a top-tier appliance and great support, but GE delivered on both. Highly recommend!

Worse dishwasher I have ever owned, it stoped working right at a year. What a waste of money. Won't turn on and stays in the same cycle. Don't know whether to ditch and buy a new one. It looks nice but does not work. The dishwasher I traded this in was a JenAir I had for 20 years and it still worked when I get this GE cafe.

Bottom rack doesn™€™t slide out easily. When we bought it the salesman said it had WiFi to allow more features. The Installer, from GE, said he didn™€™t know much about the unit. The instruction manual talked about WiFi. 4 phone calls to GE™€™s outsourced service department we found out our unit doesn™€™t have it. They offered to install it for $$. Confusing manual and no good person to explain things. Should have stuck with Kitchen Aide

Wrong parts installed from factory!

Dishwasher was louder than my last Cafe. The cleaning was not very good as well. Then it started thumping. Spent hours trying to figure out if the lower basket was bent hitting the wand etc. I figured it out after braking a wheel shifting it around. Replaced those. Cost me! Finally saw that they installed a the top wand on the bottom as well. Shooting water down. Rather than try and waiting to get a part under warranty, I purchased one and installed it myself. Apparently no testing was done before it was shipped to the consumer.

This dishwasher leaked the 1st and 2nd time we tried to use. Repair person arriving next week. Leaked from underneath and by the right side of door. Very disappointed. Hopefully we have better luck with refrigerator, range, and microwave!!! Also, piece on the bottom is very flimsy and cheaply made. I would not recommend this appliance.

Extremely disappointed with Cafe and this dishwasher. $1,200 down the drain!!!! It only lasted two months and its now leaking from the bottom around the door. I checked everything and nothings out of place. We bought this through Nebraska furniture mart and paid for them to install it. Everything was fine until two months later my wife noticed water all on the floor while the dishwasher was running. After I started inspecting the dishwasher I noticed it had to been leaking for a little because the wood floor and cabinets had water damage from underneath. Our kitchen had just been remodeled and now I have water damage and a faulty brand new fancy looking dishwasher thats garbage!! Please do yourself a favor and Stay Away from Cafe dishwashers!!!!!!

Way off from my other cafe appliances

I™€™m very disappointed with the overall quality and reliability of this dishwasher. We™€™ve already had it repaired twice, which is unacceptable for an appliance that™€™s supposed to be durable and dependable. The build quality feels subpar, with components that seem prone to failure far sooner than expected. In addition, the noise level is much higher than advertised. Even during normal cycles, it™€™s loud enough to be disruptive, which defeats the purpose of upgrading to a modern dishwasher. Between the repeated repairs, questionable durability, and excessive noise, this has not been a good value. I would not recommend this model to anyone looking for a reliable, long-term appliance.

Not worth the extra money

Have owned this diswasher for just over 5 years. We remodeled and bought all new GE Cafe appliances. The dishwasher door leaked at first use. GE sent a repair company out who ended up removing some of the rubber insulation around the outside of the machine. Problem solved. Now 5 years later, we woke up to discover our hardwood floor was warped around our kitchen island. The source of water is the bottom of our dishwasher. Not happy at all. We paid top dollar to get a good product that hasn't lasted 5 years.

Not your old Cafe

No where near the quality and features of the Cafe dishwasher this replaced. Specifically wash jets under silverware basket, button for bottle jets. One touch middle rack adjustment. Heating element exposed. My fault. Purchased on line and never saw it, figured it was a Cafe.

Poor quality

Wow. Loved it for the first year and then it all fell apart just after it went out of warranty. Very quickly it started doing a more job washing the dishes and it has just gotten worse over time. Now, the dishes have to be basically CLEAN before they go into the machine or they come out just caked with food. I've always pre-rinsed but it can't even have a smudge of anything or it won't come clean. As soon as we hit a year (out of warranty) the machine started breaking down. FIRST, the upper wash arm wash warped and stopped spinning correctly. We purchased and replaced it from GE directly (easy fix, not crazy expensive) NEXT, the pump started leaking and we replaced that ... THIS MORNING, we woke up this morning and there is insulation falling out of the front panel of the dishwasher. It's just over two years old. Insulation detonating and breaking down in a machine that is 2-3 years old is not acceptable. It's something I would expect in a dishwasher that is much older. We have had terrible experiences with Cafe appliances. I'd recommend avoiding them all together. They look beautiful but the quality is terrible. If you decide to purchase, invest in the long term warranty or expect to replace every couple of years.

This dishwasher worked great for about a year and a half. Then it didn't. Now after 4 years it does not work at all. If you are going to spend money on a nice dishwasher, I would not buy this one. It has one problem after another. We bought an entire set of Cafe appliances and the only one that still works (for now) is the refrigerator. I will not be going with GE for any more of my appliances. I can't get rid of these fast enough.

the dishwasher is not designed well. as you stack the dishes they dont fall into place properly leaving very little room. the cycle times are outrageously long as well

We have a GE Cafe dishwasher for 2 years now, the door does not want to stay closed. We have to hold the door for minutes to get the washing cycle going. This has been a on going issues for a couple of years. We have had the appliance store over to check it and they claim there is no problem. But in fact there must be. What is my next step to resolve this issue?

We replaced a builder's grade dishwasher that was loud, poorly designed for capacity, and had trim pieces falling off. The GE Cafe looks great and has a large and orderly capacity. It is so quite - we hardly know it's on.

Stylish and Quiet, but question the sturdiness

The good: The dishwasher is very stylish, matching our Cafe range. It is also very quiet, much quieter than our old Profile model. The not as good: The door and the racks are rather flimsy. Pull the handle anywhere other than dead center and it twists and flexes. Pull the top rack out with more than a few dishes and the slides begin to flex down. Even more so when loaded. The racks themselves feel light and deflect with the slightest amount of pressure. Overall it has nicer aesthetics but feels a bit less quality than the 8 year old GE Profile it replaced.

I purchased my GE cafà appliances during a Black Friday sale. I love to cook and spend time in the kitchen and wanted highly functional appliances. Not only did they look great, but they are fantastic! I bought a microwave, a refrigerator, range, and a dishwasher. I cannot tell you what a joy it is to be in the kitchen and cooking for loved ones on these fantastic appliances. I always thought that I™€™d want to go higher and with brands such as Thermidor, Viking, etc., however, I can honestly say after using these appliances, I would buy these again and my next house. they are every bit as good and my opinion, and a much better price point

Bad Dishwasher, Bad Customer Service

This dishwasher has given us problems ever since it was installed in our new construction home. The door leaked from the first used. The warranty technicians have come out numerous times. The color on the door now has weird stain lines on it. We purchased an extended warranty on all of our in house appliances through GE but now they are giving us the run around on fixing this dishwasher again after we hired a plumber who confirmed that the dishwasher is and has been defective. Do not buy!!!
